Configuring outbound routing

Modified on Tue, 24 Dec at 3:14 PM

Outbound routing determines how outgoing calls will be processed. Outgoing calls are considered to be all calls that are not internal or service calls.

In the section "Virtual PBX" → tab "Settings" → left menu "DID Numbers", bottom tab "Outbound routing".

Configure the parameters:

Prefix — this setting is used to select the phone number through which it is more convenient and cost-effective to make a call, using preselect and not using the "Region of called number" option.

To select a prefix, use the up and down arrows (from 1 to 9999).

If preselect is used, the number must be dialed in the following order:

prefix

for example 1 (in this case number has prefix = 1), then

[*] symbol

and

called subscriber's number.

For more details, see "Number prefix".

Instead of number preselection when making a call, you can set up automatic selection to make the call in the most cost-effective way. To do this, you need to enable an additional outbound routing option in the "Routing type Region of called number" parameter group. With this option enabled, the system recognizes which region the called subscriber's number is in and automatically takes geographically nearest number as caller number from the numbers that are connected to VPBX. That will increase the chance that the callee will answer the call.

For more details, see "Region of called number".

Note:

If the "Routing type Region of called number" option is not available to you, it means it is not enabled in "Services and subscriptions". For more details, see "How to enable Geo-routing".

⚠️Attention!
Only those phone numbers and subscribers that have these options enabled in their settings participate in routing by region of the called number. If routing by region of the called number is not enabled for a subscriber, it will not be applied to that subscriber, even if the option is enabled on the phone number. For more details about subscriber configuration, see "How to configure the internal subscriber".

If you need to prohibit/restrict outgoing communications on a phone number, click on the record corresponding to the desired direction. Prohibited directions are shown with a red background color, allowed directions with a green background color. By default, all outgoing calls are allowed on the number.

  • International — all international calls through this phone number are prohibited;
  • Local distance — all international and long-distance calls through this phone number are prohibited;
  • Local mobile — all mobile, long-distance, and international calls through this phone number are prohibited;
  • Local — all outgoing calls except internal ones are prohibited.

⚠️Attention!

Outgoing communication restrictions can be set not only for the phone number but also for the virtual PBX subscriber making calls through this phone number. If a direction is disabled on the phone number, the subscriber will not be able to make a call in this direction even if they are allowed calls in it. For more details, see "How to configure the internal subscriber".
