How to set up a SIP trunk

Modified on Wed, 20 Mar 2024 at 01:29 PM

Configuring a SIP trunk for telephone numbers is performed in the “Telephony” section of the main menu.

  1. Go to “Telephony” >> “SIP Trunks” tab >> “SIP Trunks” in the left menu.

  2. Click on the button with a pencil next to the trunk that has to be set up.

  3. Select a method for connecting the client's VoIP equipment to the SIP trunk: Static or Dynamic.

  4. If static SIP-trunk is selected (connection through IP-address), the button with a plus sign has to be clicked «Host» and set up the following parameters:

    • Trunk ID — trunk name;
    • IP — IP-address of the client's VoIP-equipment;
    • Port — port for IP;
    • Any port — used when a specific port is not required.

  5. For parameter input, select the SIP server from the dropdown list. Enter the IP address and port in the fields that open. If you don't need to specify a specific port, mark the box against “Any port”.

  6. Press “Save”.

  7. When choosing a dynamic SIP trunk, you can use ”Restrict to specified IP address(es)”.

    • If you need to change the binding type, move the slider to the left against “No change”.

    • Select the binding type:

      • No— the SIP account will not be linked to any IP address.

        ⚠️ Warning!

        Choosing the “No” option may harm security, as it allows for the possibility of a SIP account being hacked. Binding to an IP address makes it impossible to access the account from other IP addresses.

      • Yes — when choosing this option, you need to add the necessary number of IP addresses or a subnet in the IP address input field. The field becomes available only when the “Yes” option is selected. Enter the IP address and press the “+” button next to “Add”. Then enter the next IP address or network mask of the type 1.2.3.4/24, where the network mask is indicated by “/”.

      • Auto — the SIP account is automatically linked. This happens upon the first registration of the account.

  8. Press “Save”.

  9. You can also change the codecs and DTMF. Move the slider to the left against “Advanced settings”, then against “Change codecs” to open additional SIP trunk settings. If there is no need to change the codecs, simply skip this step.
